Understanding Neuropathy

Neuropathy is a degenerative disease that occurs primarily during chemotherapy or in people with diabetes. It causes numbness, tingling, burning, and sharp pains throughout the feet that may spread along the nerve’s length. You may lose feeling in your feet and struggle to walk properly. Unfortunately, this condition often worsens and becomes harder to manage.

Some people might even develop rotting or damaged flesh around the neuropathic areas due to poor blood circulation. When this happens, you might lose a toe or even significant portions of your feet. Some people even lose one or more feet or legs if they don't manage this problem properly. Tragically, many people simply ignore this issue or don't understand that it's happening to them.

Thankfully, Loving Hands Podiatry and Dr. Andre fully understand treatments for neuropathy and the unique care options available to you. We'll do what we can to walk you back from this troubling issue and ensure that you get the attention necessary to recover. Just as importantly, we'll take extra steps to make sure that your feet are strong and healthy.

Current Treatment Options

Typically, neuropathy treatments include drugs like Lyrica and gabapentin that help manage your symptoms and decrease your suffering. There are also non-invasive treatments that can minimize neuropathy’s progression and even restore functioning and sensation in neuropathic areas of the body.

Dr. Andre provides this care in your home. You'll get 15-30-minute treatments twice a week over an 8-12 week period using CET or EST-Combined Electrical Therapy. These machines are not a TENS treatment but use time-varying electrical signals to stimulate tissues.

In this way, you can restore function and strength in your neuropathic tissues and avoid worsening your condition. No matter what caused your neuropathy, our team at Loving Hands Podiatry feels comfortable working with you and will do what they can to ensure you're satisfied.
